The importance of getting the soldering right

When it comes to making jewellery, solder is a tiny but essential element that holds the pieces together. It may seem like a small detail, but the strength and durability of a piece of jewelry can depend heavily on the quality of the solder used.

Solder creates a joint that is incredibly strong and resistant to breaking, even under considerable pressure. In fact, a properly soldered joint can be stronger than the individual pieces it joins. This is because the heat used in the soldering process causes the solder to flow into the small spaces between the parts, creating a bond that is both strong and durable.

Without the use of solder, pieces of jewellery would be much more fragile and prone to breakage, especially under the weight of additional pressure or stress. So while solder may be a small and seemingly insignificant element in the jewellery making process, it plays a vital role in ensuring that the final product is strong, durable and able to stand the test of time.
